OH, NO! I am so sorry!;{

AND....I hurried on over here so fast to see a current picture! LOL

Now, for great cameras Diane Of A Picture is worth a Thousand Words just did a post with the same question and people weighed in. I really took notes.

I think Janie ~ Southern Lady takes gorgeous pictures and she gave her advice on Diane’s blog.

Our good friend Sharon~ A New England Life also did a great post about cameras several months back.

Bless your heart!

Sorry about your camera...REALLY!!!

And you look amazing! Did you do something different with your hair?

You are so beautiful!!! I wish I looked half as good as you. I'm so sorry about your camera, although I am laughing because the same thing would definitely happen to me! Have fun camera shopping!!!

I laughed so hard I peed; see what having 3 kids will do for you. (#*!% bladder control).
I love the line about the strawberry shampoo and whining like a girl. If it weren't for the pixs of the doggies, I would swear that conversation took place here on bath night.
As for the camera, I feel your pain. The hubby dropped ours in the pool 2 years ago when our daughter went under and forgot to just stand up. He stepped in to scoop her up and down went the camera.

Stacy Uncorked said...

Oh NO! Sorry about your camera - for 'cheap' but takes great pictures, I really like my Kodak EasyShare camera...I'm saving up to get a Canon Rebel - I have one, but it's one that takes pictures on actual film...I would love to have the digital version instead! ;)

Love the pictures of the bath - our dogs are getting baths this weekend, too - they need it desperately! ;)

Great picture of you at the end - you look so angelic! LOL! :)

Nikki! You're just like I imagined!

I hope Crumpet and Ozzie have gotten over their baths by now. It probably helped that the camera went in the tub....I'll bet they are STILL laughing!

My camera is a GE and I LOVE it! Very user friendly~

Have a Happy First Day of Spring!

Nikki!!!! I was just thinking to myself, "Wow. That's pretty amazing that she can bathe her dogs AND take photos at the same time." I guess I spoke too soon. That really bites, girl!

I use a little Panasonic DMC-TZ1 with 10x magnification. I love it, although I'm thinking that if I'm going to get serious about photography, I may have to get something a little more serious. It's a great camera, though. Check it out. It wasn't expensive.

Coloradolady said...

Put your camera in a baggie of rice...uncooked rice for a few days. Don't open, it works for dropping cell phones in water, maybe it would take the moisture out of the camera...I'd try that first. The rice will take in the water and dry the phone's out to work again...worth a try. Sorry about that! What a bummer.

Jana said...

Oh no! But YES! I do know a great...not too expensive camera!!!! Go to Wal-Mart and find the Canon Powershot SD790 IS. We looked at it at another store but it was cheaper at W. I took it to Hawaii with us and it took beautiful pictures plus it has some fun features to it. It's small enough to just keep in your purse all the time too. It's as good as my expensive Sony.

mCat said...

I am laughing hysterically! Great, funny post!! Sorry, I can't help you on the camera deal. Splenda bought my awesome one! All I know is he got a fantastic deal on a Cannon PowerShot SX110 IS 9.0 Mega Pixels at the Wal-Mart!

Anonymous said...

I've worried about this happening to me. I try to always use the wrist strap or the neck strap on my larger camera... i know, i know... that's water under the bridge for you now. Not sure what you consider to be overly expensive for a camera, but all of the Canon Powershot series are good. I had have had the SD450 for years... I think it's now been upgraded to the SD700 or 720.... not sure. Love the Canon brand although others swear by Nikon. Rue over at PB&J uses a nice camera too, the Canon G10. Looks like she gets great photos with it.

Coloradolady has some good advice. Take the battery out ASAP. Let it all dry out and try later. I did that with a cell phone once and it was okay. Depends how quickly you retrieved it.

Did the boys "shake" to get you back. The trick by the way is to blow in their ear. Makes them shake every time!

You are just too stinking funny! When my husband tells me I am getting ridiculous "about the damn dogs" I just send him over to your blog... and he laughs too!

Anonymous said...

Hehe...sorry to laugh but the post is funny.

Oh boy, a new camera! I love those. Hehe. Aside from my big DSLR, to shop for a smaller digital camera, i just go to BestBuy and try them out in the store so I know how the camera operates and can see it take the photos. I know this isn't very helpful or technical for a photographer but i really just have to see how it works and the quality of the photos before i can decide.

Dropping your camera in the tub in order to get a new one........you clever girl. :)

No matter what you buy, most digital camera's these days take great shots.

I have a Nikon Coolpix S550. I don't remember how much it cost, but it was probably between $250-$300. They go on sale a lot and are pretty easy to use.

Canon power shots also come highly recommended. If you want a SLR then I really love the ease of use of the Canon Rebel series.

One thing you will notice is that the less expensive cameras tend to run on disposable batteries. I would recommend spending a little more and getting a camera that has lithium battery's.

I can't wait to see what you get.

Those pups AND you are so funny! Carson knows as soon as I start running water in the hall bath....it's HIS TIME! He retreats to his crate and has a look like...."I'm perfectly fine...right here". He doesn't put up a fight but he doesn't jump in willingly either. He's just resigned to the fact...he's STINKs and needs a bath.

Sorry about your camera!

OMG Nikki, this is hysterical! How do you get both dogs in the tub at once? I fight to bathe one at a time! Just as I thought, wow, she's got both dogs in the tub at once AND can take pictures too, PLOP & into the tub the camera went. Hee hee hee. Sorry, this is just so stinkin' funny!

My Kodak Easy Share doesn't take very good pictures & I don't the disposable batteries.

I'm using a Casio Exilim but I want a new camera, so let me know what you decide on...

Good one Nikki! ☺♥☺

Oh I am so sorry about your camera, I'd be sick, but this was a hysterical post if that makes you feel any better.

I love picture stories and that one was by far the best! :) Even though you lost your camera. Sorry about that! You can get a pretty good Olympus for about $150 on Amazon. I got the FE 370 I think. Heather said...

Oh no!

I second the suggestion to try the bag of rice trick for the camera (after taking the battery out which hopefully you did already)... worth a shot!

As for new cameras, I've been pretty happy with the Sony Cyber-shot I won from SITS last summer. Only drawback is that it doesn't do really well in very low-light conditions. For outside (like when we went to Disney World last summer) shots and regular light inside shots, it is great!

I had a Kodak Easy Share before this one and it was always good for me, though it was old by the time I replaced it. I don't know how the newer ones are.....

H.K. said...

Sorry about the camera, but at least you got some good story lines with the blurry ones!

Now I want you to tell me what brand dog food you give your pretty boys.

Have a happy day

Great post and great pix (until the unfortunate incident) Wonderful self portrait lol. DH got me a Coolpix L18 for Christmas - I love it, it's super easy to use and it takes better pictures than I deserve. DH himself has 2 high zoot digital cameras with all kinds of stuff and you have to set the f stops or something and change lenses, so I don't touch those! Kathy

Hi Nikki:
My dog, Zeus, is telling me "don't get any ideas, mom"..he needs a bath so bad. Darn that's a shame about the camera going in the tub. I am wondering if you can dry it out, like commenters have suggested. The only digital camera I have ever used are Sony. Still have our first one from 6 years ago. Just depends on how much you want to spend, I guess.

Neat photo journal of bath time! And I LOVE the comments! Your picture is fuzzy, did you know that? I'm glad my camera is in the car because if someone took a picture of me, it would look like I was in the movie signs. Round, rubber, snap-in curlers with my hair wrapped around them. I'm scaring my family. No scare. Well, the same thing. (((hugs)))

MsSippi, aka Peggy said...

Hmmm! First, Crumpet threatens revenge (notice that his eye is GREEN in the pic!). Second, your camera drops into the bath water. Could Crumpet possibly be a poltergeist???? I have to wonder how in the world he managed to do that!

Anyway, this is one hilarious post, as usual, and I use a Kodak EasyShare. But, do try to dry out your camera first! After all you can't possibly hurt it now, can you?

Jan said...

Not the tub Nikki? No no no... You do realize that camera's do not require baptism. Right?

Love the dog tales. Those poor little clean freaks.

Oh no! The challenges of being a steady blogger! THAT must be why my husband always stresses to wrap the strap around my wrist.
Your post was very funny. Sorry to hear about your camera. I have a Fuji S8000fd that I really like, I haven't fully learned it because I am slightly camera dumb!

Hi,

I am a little late leaving you a comment about cameras- but here goes - after dropping and breaking two digital cameras I decided that I needed to have a larger digital that had more "beef" to it. I bought one of the NIKON DX models and love it. It has a nice big strap that I put around my neck and it fits my hand better. So far so good - I have not dropped it yet.

P.S. I learned to buy the extended warranty that covers any damage, except water, after dropping two other cameras.

Hello to the clean dogs from Bentley,
Blessings,
Erin

LOL! That is so funny! My hubby dropped ours in the ocean. What camera doesn't enjoy a nice salty mineral bath?!

Just passing through blogland. Found you through Beth at Blissful Babe. Love finding other LDS mom bloggers! Fun!

Holy crap!

So glad the rice suggestion worked.

Psssssst. a little teensy secret and seeing that it's going to be buried in your millions of comments...I'm going to be giving away another Canon soon. And it's an AWESOME one! Just sayin'!

BTW, your little story here is exactly why I no longer give Casey bath's at home. our groomer has 5 stations with huge steel tubs and big commercial dryers for people that want to bring their dogs in for a bath. I've used it twice and love it. And I can tether Casey to the tub so he don't go bat-crap crazy. Of course, he's perfect for the groomers. Never gives them ANY trouble. Damn dog!
