WHAT LURKS IN THE PURSE.....

So I went over to Jill Jill bo bill's place to pick up an award....(yeah I'm braggin) And she did a post on revealing your true self by dumping out your purse...for all the world to see....Ya can't take anything out first or clean it up....you have to be honest and just bare it all! After seeing the "otherworldly" contents of Jill's purse...I figured "hey I'll give it a shot" .... I mean sheeesh it can't be worse than hers! (ya really gotta check hers out...it will make you laugh..and frankly...feel good about yourself) I'm kidding Jill! You know I love ya!

So here is my big Purse Reveal...

Notice the awkward bulgy thing happening....no it is not defective....this is what happens when your purse is a size 7 and you cram in a size 24! In people it's called "muffin top"...in purses it's called "zipper AARRRGH"

YOU KNOW THAT FEELING YA GET AFTER A BIG MEAL AND YOU FINALLY GET TO UNDO THE TOP BUTTON ON YOUR JEANS.....that's how my purse feels right now.

First step in this purse journey is to find a LARGE open space to start the dumping process. In this case I also needed to attach the wide angle lens to my camera.

Let us dissect the contents.....check book a must have....check balancing book thingy...What exactly is that for? anyone??? And a handy calculator so that I can figure out how much money I'm saving by spending money on stuff I don't need, but I bought anyway because it was on sale.

Did ya notice the old rotted, decrepit envelope in the upper left corner...pray tell what could be in this relic of a bygone era??? Gift Certificates of course...to fine eateries....notice the date of issue...hmmmm 2006 , 2007....you'd think that since we don't use these lovely free meal tickets it would mean I'm either (A) very thin or (B) an amazing gourmet cook, who likes to whip up fabulous meals at home. No the answer would be (C) I forgot I had the damn things until I dumped out my purse!

So Jeopardy contestants...what is that "almost clear" plastic thingie? I have no idea myself...but I'm thinking if I ever get trapped somewhere with McGuyver he'll be glad I kept it! The saddest part of this is...I put it back in my purse!

Hmmm paint sample swatches from my bathroom re-do....you remember...the one I did last month....the one that's finished. I guess I can toss this...dang my purse feels lighter already!

This would go a very long way to explain why I keep showing up places on the wrong day. I just noticed that my calendar/planner is from 2006 !!!! And all this time I thought people were so RUDE to be missing our appointments!
That green yawning thing would be my version of a wallet. Not very efficient I'll admit...is it gaping open because it's filled with SO much cash? ....too many credit cards?......

Nope....seriously this is what was in there !

And some of it had previously escaped!

And just in case some of you are thinking about stealing my coin collection......I have MACE! SO BACK OFF! Oh and check out that professional tape measure...it's the little yellow round thing...it stretches clear to three feet! Builder Bob has nothing on me.

And while we're on the subject of purses....meet my new obsession....Karen Wilson handbags.....oh just look at them.....don't drool on them I said "look". Aren't they a thing of beauty.......*SIGH* Somebody here in blogland introduced me to these little scrumptious nuggets just a few weeks ago. I can't remember who it was...but don't admit to it...my hubby is going to hunt you down and make you rue the day you got me purse lusting! .....edit: I have been informed it was Carolynn from "a glowing ember" who got me started NEEDING one of these...so if you too get emotionally attached to one of these...BLAME HER!

And thanks a ton Jill for the award! I'm glad I found your blog. My tummy muscles are actually getting stronger just from all the laughing I do when I read your stuff. You're better than crunches any day!

Thanks for letting me snoop in your purse. I may do the same soon...although I just cleaned out my purse because I had to transfer things into my NEW one....yup...I'm the culprit who introduced you to Karen Wilson bags and....I finally caved and in a moment of weakness, succumbed to urgings of retail therapy and bought myself one. I'll blog it soon, so you can see which one I chose. ;o)

Resistance is Futile!

You are a brave, brave woman! Don't think I'll be doing this and posting it anytime soon! I'm afraid people would analyze my weird purse contents and realize that I'm actually quite insane.

I need to dump my purse just to get some "crap" out of it! I seriously don't know how it gets so heavy!!!

Congratulations on your award!!

LOL!! This was funny as usual! Your purse isnt so bad! Although the '06 planner? Dump it fast!!

Ooooh those hand bags are to die for! Yours included!

Deb said...

Hi Nikki! You're a brave one. If I were to dump my purse you would think I'd dumped a waste basket. Gum and candy wrappers all over the place. Love the purses too. Deb

SmilingSally said...

Nikki, Those coins are what's making your purse so heavy. Go spend em, girl, and then everything will fit nicely into the NEW pretty one you buy.

Jan said...

I got to hand it to you. I don't know if I could do that. You were so brave. I love those purses too. Fun to see that I am normal with the change thing.

Aleta said...

OMG - love that red purse. Now.... I might have a purse addiction after seeing that. Absolutely lovely.

And the things that you have in your purse? I had to laugh. Great post. Mine would be boring, but I'm willing to share! I'll have to take pictures when I go home for lunch and post a blog.

Yes, you are right, it is Deseret Industries. And we are from the same church.. It is nice to meet other members.. I love Utah. Wish I could live there. I live in Arizona in the hot hot weather. I so look forward to winter if you even call winters here cold. Well thanx for checking out my blog..

I clean out my purse very often, cause it's so heavy. Must be all the pennies I get for allowance :)Still I wouldn't dump it out in front of God and everybody. LOL

LOL!!! You are sooo lucky that made me crack up! At least I don't have a clear plastic thingy in my purse. I keep those in my dresser. And my purse was bigger, hence more tra-jun-stuff. so there.

Anonymous said...

Hahaha...The muffin top comment made me laugh--only because it rings so close to home. I'll have to dig out my purse and do this. I think I can put both you and Jill to shame!

Heather said...

I shall do this on my blog soon - hilarious!

Of course, following my Big Purse Switchout back over the summer, I have much less space, and yeah, I posted about that, too..... (http://nobody-but-yourself.blogspot.com/2008/07/its-in-bag.html)

You know one thing I would absolutely buy a new purse for? An autographed George Clooney picture. Yeah, you KNOW I'd be carrying that around with me, night and day, sleeping with it under my pillow in a protective casing to keep the drool and lipstick marks off of it. Yep.

Oh, by the by, I *was* on Jeopardy and I still have no idea what in the hey that plastic thingy is...

Cheers!

Amy said...

Great post! I may have to steal that idea, too cute :D

Heather said...

You are one brave girl! I don't think I would have the guts to let everyone in blogland see how unorganized my purse is.

We should form a partnership for unused coupons and gift cards. I thought I was the queen, but I see I have to share my position.

I wouldn't be a fun subject of the purse game. I have turned into someone that uses a really small purse. Just call me a minimalist. ;-)

Susie Q said...

Well, that was fun! And you are much braver than I am...I am actually afraid to empty mine out. I have no idea what I might find. My husband used to say that Jimmy Hoffa's body might be gidden in my purse...in the deep, cavernous, over-stuffed nether regions of my purse!

Oh, and I love your purse...: )

Love,
Sue

I saw that sweet puppy face again and again yesterday during that Boot Camp called Blogathon yesterday, and I just had to click and enjoy. So glad I did!

Low and behold - the winner!!!! I'm so incredibly jealous. It was over the Featured blogger spot (I won the CrackLiture basket - still totally cool - want to trade?), but now it's that purse!

I bet if you head down to CoinStar, you might just have enough change to buy it - Good Lord woman. The Mints are having to do double time because of your hoarding.

Awesome post!

Hey Project Runway groupie,
What do you think? I'm betting on Korto to win... here's my theory: Leeann plays too safe and at times borders on boring. Kenley is freakin' nuts...very creative, but who in their right minds would wear that stuff?!... So that's were Korto comes in. She's classy and her sewing is impeccable. So, sistah, come tell me your theory. Should we bet?!? LOL. If I win, I want one of those donuts from the apple orchard. If you win...hummmm, I'll send you a CHAIR.... Ha ha..just kiddin' !
You have a nice neat purse, by the way, I was a little disappointed. I was hoping to see some old nasty crackers or candybars down in there....ha! Mine is a disgrace!
Talk soon, lady

Your purse wasn't so bad - I've certainly seen worse (I've even owned worse, what am I saying "seen worse"). I do have a cure for bulging purses, but it is a bit extreme. When you get older you have your hips replaced with titatium, then you can't stand to carry around so much weight on your shoulders. I now carry this tiny little billfold on a string that doesn't hold a darn thing!!!

Congrats on the award! You deserve it for sure!!
As for the purse thing. Well, I do need to weed mine out a bit, but I think most women are guilty of a bit of a messy purse. Currently I know that I have a spy kit and a very important Ben 10 omnitrix in my purse. So, I can morph myself into a mega strong super hero and act like Sherlock Holmes (or Nancy Drew) should the need arise. The one thing I don't have in my purse? Money! LOL.

Fun post! I enjoyed taking a peek inside your purse. I'm not sure I'm brave enough for a big reveal of the contents of mine.

Well you did good to empty your purse in front of us all. Better you than me though.
Your purse is a good size and could hide all those goodies in them. I really like that red purse too. Love those big flowers.

Have a really great day...come by and visit my blog when you have some time.

Believe it or not, my purse isn't too bad. Now there are a few spots in my house that are equal the contents spewed from your purse. I'd NEVER show them though:)

Nikki, I have been gone all day so am late with my comments. Your purse is so much like mine and I am going to dump it tomorrow. I promise I will not edit it first. You do make me laugh girl. Your new purses are great, but a little small. Anyway I am dog tired and need some rest.

I am glad you have a taser and I know you wouldn't use it on yourself. A women would never do such a thing.lol.

See you tomorrow...Jeanne

My favorite part was you putting the plastic thingy back in your purse!! I may be cluttered in all other aspects of my life but my purse stays clean! I'm afraid what my hand will touch in that dark abyss if it isn't!! I seriously have my wallet, check book, hand sanitizer (doctor's orders I might add), small pack of Kleenex, wintergreen Lifesavers, and sunglasses. I even have a thingy attached to the outside that hooks my keys onto it so I don't lose my keys in the store! I know I must be sick to have a purse so organized. If it could only transfer over into the rest of my life I'd be okay!

Hope this doesn't print twice-something happened when I pressed post....Anyway I just thought that if a mugger ever held you up you would have to ask him to hold your purse so you could rummage around and find your mace! Or just throw the whole purse at him and knock him out.LOL

OK, I was going to make a sassy remark about how I KNOW you had a tazer and "Smokey and the Bandit" on VHS in your purse but you hid them for the photos...

...and then I got distracted by the fact that you have a blog on your roll called "Wonderful World of Weiners."

And now I'm speechless.

[Congrats on winning the SITS grand prize, she whispered...]

XOXO
