An Amazing lady with a bigger butt than mine!

Our last day in New York. And yes we partied the night away....at least until 10:00 and then it was lights out! I think it's important to note that the women in my family don't sleep. Seriously I have never seen anything like it! I'm starting to wonder if they are all freaking MUTANT SPAWN ! They keep waking me up WAAAAAY before the sun comes up. We're in New York City on a Sunday morning....Just where do you think you're gonna get breakfast at five flippin o'clock A.M. ??? So for fun.....and I'm serious, this is a true story....for FUN they decide to walk down and back up the stairs....ok...not too weird...but we're on the 23 FLOOR!!! THATS 46 FLOORS OF STAIRS!!! See what I mean about MUTANTS ... my mom is 72 years old! I'm still whining about my feet hurting from yesterday...they're happily trotting up and down the stairs.

At this point I'm positive I'm adopted.

After muffins and juice (because no respectable place is open this early!) We hop on our little Bus-O-Fun and head toward the most famous place in all of New York

Now the sight of the Statue of Liberty from Battery Park always makes me cry. I'm not sure why but it simply chokes me up. She's beautiful!

And here is my group of Morning Ghouls (i'm still mad it's so early) on the ferry, headed to see the big lady!

Now you gotta double click on this picture. You'd swear this was a post card...but truly this was taken by my SIL Jody...dang that woman can work magic with a camera!

Aren't they cute! A trio of Country gals standing in front of the BIG City. I just love this picture.

And check out that gorgeous blue sky......Now I don't know about you...but it looks like Miss Liberty is mighty PO'd about whats happening to this fine country. She looks like she'd like to kick some serious Politician A@@ right about now.

And there it is!!!!! The reason why I love the Statue of Liberty more than anything else on this planet...why you ask....because she is the only woman around that has a bigger butt than me!

Farewell Miss Liberty....you're being tossed aside for a tall building with a killer view. We're off to the Empire State Building.

And I gotta tell you another true story. The observation deck is on the 80th floor. The elevators take you to around the 72 or 73 floor and then you switch elevators to go the rest of the way. Well the wait for the second elevator was about 20 minutes. My dear family didn't want to wait and asked if they could just go up the rest of the way on the stairs. Some totally clueless (and soon to be sorry) lady says sure to my SIL's ...but then looks at my mom and says "dearie you should wait for the elevators...thats a big climb) My mom, being the sweet person she is, gritted her teeth and said "really I can go up the stairs" ...Clueless says "no dearie...you really need to take the elevator" My mom proceeded to tell Ms Clueless that she climbed up 46 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS JUST THAT MORNING AND SHE WAS PRETTY DAMN SURE SHE COULD HANDLE A MEASLY 8 FLOORS WITHOUT EVEN GETTING WINDED SO GET OUTTA HER WAY ...AND BY THE WAY MISSY I'LL BE HAPPY TO RACE YOU TO THE TOP!!!! Suffice it to say my mom can be a wee bit "spunky" when her abilities are in question.

Now at this point I'm done in....okay honestly I've been done in for days. But my feet have gone on strike and they refuse to move...ever! So I let my three unsuspecting family members off at Central Park...because of course THEY want to go for a walk, or a jog, or HECK a MARATHON SPIN through the largest park on the planet. I figure...hey they can get back on the bus and find the hotel...piece of cake. Probably not the nicest or most responsible thing to do....but my feet frankly didn't care one whit about their personal safety. I however felt a bit apprehensive and guilty until they got back....well after my nap I did!

So we're done with our trip to the big city. I'm pretty sure they all had a really good time. New York is a totally bizarre experience when you live in a little town your whole life. I'm sure New York left a big impression on my family....and my mom of course left a pretty large impression on New York!

I love your mom's spunk! She and I would get along just fine but I'm afraid she'd wear me out. Glad you had such a good time with your family. Aren't you glad to be back home so you can go to work and get some rest?

Nikki, you are a crack-up, only you would compare your butt to the Statue of Liberty! lol

Oh... I wanted to be with you... I am your sis sorta kinda right? I love the BIG Apple and sounds like you guys had a ball... OK now tell me how'd you do that with your moms picture... It was fabulous... I love the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building too. Are you sure it wasn't the watch vendors making you cry there in the park... LOL.. Last time my cousin & I went to NYC we saw a young man ask his girlfriend to marry him up on top of the Empire State Building... It was so romantic.. We took pictures for them... Well I think we should all meet up there some time... At least as many that can go.. Wouldn't that be a hoot...

Love & Kisses,
Donna aka Sis

Your hilarious Nikki! My mom said the same thing about her feet when she was in New York. Of course, she didn't walk up and down stairs for fun either. Your mom sounds fun...just like you. :-)

Wow! what a trip! I would have been with you, needing to take a nap and rest my feet while the others did their thing. My legs ache just thinking about it. My feet too. How did you do that? By osmosis? Just kidding :-)

Nikki, your mom is amazing and so cute! I'm glad she stood up for herself and "did New York her way!"

I'll never forget the first time I saw the Statue of Liberty. It was before 9/11, and all the turmoil it brought to our country. She is awesome and I wish every American could visit her and renew their faith in America, and all she stands for.

Thank you for sharing your trip with us.

Sincerely,

Janie

OmG, the women of your family are completely insane! Walking up and down 40+ flights of stairs JUST BECAUSE? And then your mom freaks out on the elevator lady because she WANTS to walk up more stairs? And then in the Central Park pics, I noticed she wasn't even wearing sneakers! She was doing all that walking and climbing in sandals! Oh dear Lord, give me half that woman's energy!

This was so much fun to read, nikki. I just wish you all would have gone to Serendipity. No trip to NY is complete without a visit there!

Justine :o )

Your mom is a doll! I will readily admit that I would never be able to keep up with her. I wouldn't look as good on the big-screen either!

I think your mom is my new hero for her vitality and her energy. Except for the getting up at 5:00 a.m. thing. No, just no. I am a night owl and don't give a whit about seeing morning, but I do have to work first shift. Looks like a fabulous trip to NYC! I've never been there...yet. Love your humor about Lady Liberty having a world class big butt.

Hope your feet are feeling better!

You made NY sound like fun. Your Mom is so cute! I would never have made it up 23 flights of stairs - I'd be dead. And your SIL's pictures are amazing - your right that picture is postcard worthy! And don't worry about the Statue of Liberty's butt, I've got your's beat. ~ Robyn

I read the title of this post and thought for sure it was about ME and you were honoring me. Guess this is what I get for being so narcissistic! (Is that a word? If not, it is now!). Loved everything about the tour. I really want to go there some day but if I do you absolutely have to be my tour guide!! Love your mom's spunk and fire! They sound like incredible women and so do you, tired feet or not! I may hust have to print out your SIL's picture for my office. It's better than any other picture of Lady Liberty I've seen! Do you think she'd mind? I think maybe I should change my name to Paul Harvey as my posts seem to be telling "the rest of the story." LOL! Pssssst......I am a bit of a fruitcake though, I have to be bz life's too boring if you're not!

Nikki, I have loved every word of your NY experience. We sisters (5 of us) followed your very path a few years ago. I think I told you this. Anyway, we had the time of our lives in that wonderful city and I can so feel your aching feet. Except mine was a failing knee. Thus, my recent knee replacement. sigh.

Your text and story about the stairs is so fun to read. You go mom! The Statue of Liberty is awe inspiring and I love her too. I hope your feet have recovered.

Hugs...Jeanne

So glad your trip to "my town" was a fun experience for you and your family. But, you couldn't find a breakfast place open at 5 AM? This is a shocker. We're the town that never sleeps. Next time, talk to the hotel's concierge. Also, if you come back, remember my e-mail and let me know -- I'll tell you about some of the best places to go. Joanne ~~ glamourgirljoanne@yahoo.com
