Proof I sometimes get off this chair...........

This is my first time joining in on Metamorphisis Monday. Thanks to Susan from "Between Naps on the Porch" for the invite ! Go there to check out some other great transformations!

Since I've been using the excuse of "yard work" to explain why I've been such a crappy blogger lately.....I figured I'd better prove that I've actually been doing it.

Those of you who have been visiting here for awhile may remember our little patio transformation that took place about 6 months ago....for those who don't remember the "ugliness" of it all...here is a reminder...

Before.......

After................
and how it looks after the last few weeks of work................15 Hostas, Solomon Seal, Jacobs ladder, a couple of Fox Gloves, Pachysandra, and some Impatiens in pots to add a little color.

This was the sickly patch of grass we were left with after they tore things up.........
And here is the way it looks now.....

I planted 3 big yummy Hydrangeas and some Potentilla, a wisteria vine, and laid down a doggy trail with some slate. Since that is the trail they've been taking for the last year, I figured I'd better leave it for them to run through. Or suffer the consequences of them bounding through the bushes.

Another HIDEOUS before.........

After....................

And now................

UGH............

And......getting there...... It won't look so weirdly lopsided when the wisteria starts to spread up the string. We're hoping it will cover most of this side of the shed and spread over the eaves. Oh and check out my topsy turvy tomato...I sure hope it grows. Hopefully this year the bunnies won't get them all!

November 2008

June 2009

And here's a quick peek of how the pond garden is doing. This is our 4th summer here and things are finally starting to fill in..... although I'm pretty sure I can still find some bare spots if I see any irresistible plants!

There isn't a lot of color yet....but by next month things should be blooming ...or they will be if the rascally rabbits don't devour everything!

Morning Nikki,

I know you have shown us your yard before and it was beautiful then, but now it is absolutely STUNNING! Your hard work definitely shows. I would be so proud to have a back yard & pond area like that! You did a FABULOUS job.♥

Debbie said...

Beautiful work! The before and after pictures say it all! A lot of work went into that and it looks like you had a clear vision of what you wanted and then accomplished that. We are slow over here on the plains to get things done. Of course it all takes money and by the time we have it, something else is needed! Great job!

Kristen Andrews said...

wow you really did do a lot of work great job looks beautiful!

Gorgeous yard! My husband and I LOVE working in the yard and we often have to make room for just one more plant. We have rabbits in our neighborhood, too, but the 10 foot marble-capped wall keeps them out of the backyard.

Now, I want a pool!

Unknown said...

Beautiful! Can I come hang out with you? :)

Wow Nikki!! You have been busy.. everything looks awesome! You deserve to take a lil more time just to sit back relax and admire all the beauty you've created. Love the border around the shed garden!! Good luck with the turvy tomato hanger.. this is my first year using one as well. My tomato plant is all freaky looking right now.. its refusing to grow downward and has taken a turn upward.

Oh my~ I'm green with envy over here....but you deserve some cartwheels for this my friend. I love the wisteria ( I planted 2 this year ) and it will look so scrumptious climbing all over the building. Hydrangea doesn't do well here, so I'm having a fit over yours. Now, I must know what kind of trim or edging that is around that little bed with the stone. My topsy turvey is doing pretty good but my friends is way bigger than mine already. I've been a long time fan of your pond....love it!!

Enjoy!

Hey, I am off to the great white north --will check up on you when I get back my friend --unless I get ate by some bear and that would totally such---especially since I am coming to your house for an extended visit

It actually is growing tomatoes but they are starting to curve and grow up, ha.
