~~Bring Your Blog Buddies to Work Day~~

Today I had to go to Northampton to measure two kitchens in a lovely home that's under construction. I figure if I have to work today...then I'm dragging the rest of you with me!
And no matter how much I may need to potty...I ain't using one of those portable ones on a construction site...NO WAY!...... Anyhoo back to work.

My clients are the Carpenter's...two really nice people....And this is going to be their new kitchen. Okay I know it doesn't look like a kitchen yet...but that's why I'M HERE! And this one is gonna be a beauty...check out the high ceilings! This kitchen is about 17 feet x 16 feet and will have a 8 foot center island. Their taste is very contemporary which isn't my thing...but hey it's their money...and I want some of it hehehe.

Ooohh check out the cute construction worker through the window.
OOPS...don't be getting distracted now...back to work. This is the breakfast nook...I love love love the ceilings in here. I can't wait to see them finished.

I could sure make this fireplace work in my house! Well...I could if I removed the roof! There is nothing like 20 foot ceilings. they are still debating about whether to use stone or brick on this baby....I sure hope they go for stone. It would look amazing.

While I'm measuring I glance out the family room window...and what do I see but this gorgeous victorian.....I gotta remember to drive around the block when I leave so I can check out the front of that house!

Now I know I'm only here to design the kitchen...but ya gotta snoop around right? Check out this soaking tub...it's just big enough to sit in. And has a gazillion jets. It would be nice to soak clear up to your neck....but how do you get out of that thing??? It's pretty deep!

Off to the lower floor. This will be another kitchen. This floor is being done for their elderly parents. What you'll notice is that this kitchen is the same size as the upstairs kitchen! The only difference is that the ceilings are only 10 feet high instead of 20 feet...how dreary...gosh how will they not bump their heads???

Alright...our work here is done. But that doesn't mean there isn't time to go check out the neighborhood. I think I could force myself to live here.

OH OH OH I think I see that Victorian we saw out the window!
HOLY FREAKING BAT CRAP....check out that copper dome thingie...what a stunning house!(ya gotta double click on this picture to see all the details)

AND JUST DOWN THE BLOCK.....CHECK IT OUT...ONE BIG MAMAJAMMA HUNKIN HOUSE!

Bummer...no more goofin off. It's time to earn a living. In about 3 to 4 months I will hopefully have some finished photos to share. That is if they still like me enough to let me in to take pictures!

I have read everything on your shelfari except "Odd Thomas" and "The Crime Writer"!
The Crime Writer sounds interesting. I haven't heard of that author. Did you like it? I did a post on my blog about a new author I found that I like -John Hart. You should check it out.
Have a great rest of the weekend,

Omg! My chin nearly hit the floor when I saw those huge houses, especially the Victorian! Wow! Those are incredible!

The house you are working on is going to be awesome! I can't imagine how cool it is going to look with those high ceilings. I agree, stone on that fireplace will be awesome! And I want a soaking tub!

Where do people get the money to afford places like this? I went on a home parade today and there were half the number of homes as there has been in the past. They said that its the economy and the housing slump. Sad! Good to see that there are still homes being built out there!

"HOLY FREAKIN' BAR CRAP?" ~~~ Oh, it's SOOOO REFRESHING to see such a gracious lady, as "THE NIKKI", have such a DELIGHTFUL sense of FUN n' HUMOR!!! Thanks for the chuckles!!! ~~~~~~~ NOW, I just saw some of those so-called "comments" below, re your MBR, and I must say (1) I was STUNNED and (2) I was .. Yes, again! I guess we should ALL embrace a "to each his own" philosophy, B-U-T saying your bedroom is bland or vanilla is like standing at the top of the Empire State Building (sans my beloved Cary Grant, of course) n' shouting out, for all to see n' hear, that "I am an idiot without ANY taste ~~~ whether it's about decorating or social decorum!!!" ~~~~~ Geez, Nik! Sommmme people!!! (Well, forgive them, for they know not what they speak!) ~ Love, Linda~~~~ (Note: I love your bedroom so much that I have been inspired, for the last several weeks, to consider having our bed painted a verrrry creamy white, just because of the truffle-suede we have painted on our walls!)

Holy Cow!! Those are some big houses!! The victorian is wonderful. I grew up in a town with a lot.. of old mansions. But, I do not think I've ever.. seen anything that big before. The kitchen you are doing is an amazing space. I can't wait to see what it's like when it's finished. I do hope you post the pictures when it's done. Or in the meantime can you post the layout of your design? We'd love to follow you through the process!!
Hugs, Terrie

That house is amazing!!! Oh, I would LOVE to see the inside of that one!

And your bedroom is gorgeous, and yes, it is remarkable! Anyone would had ugly remarks on RMS about that room, had jealously issues! LOL! I tried RMS for a couple of months, but my skin is not thick enough! So, I packed my bags and moved to blogland! LOL! I would love to see more of your home! Your bedding is fabulous!
It all looks so serene and elegant!

Nikki,

I followed the trail of breadcrumbs you left on your way over here from Rhoda's, and I'm so glad you did and I did! After seeing these large Victorians, I'm convinced I DO, indeed, live in a box in St. Augustine! LOL! If you're ever there, come see me. I'd love to meet you. :-D

Great blog (precious dogs), and I'm going to have to come back and see what they do with tht fab-o fireplace.

All the best,

Sheila

Give me their little guest house, their slaves quarters...anything in that victorian house. I'll live there and call it my own, and pretend that I will someday own a house like that too. WOWZA!! (to go along with the Bat Crap:)

Nikki, I loved going to "work" with you. I can't imagine having a job like yours ... designing kitchens for beautiful houses like the one you showed us. Have you ever had one of your kitchens featured in a magazine?

I can't wait to see the finished photos. I know both of those kitchens are going to be stunning, contemporary or not!

Sincerely,

Janie
