IT'S TIME FOR WOMEN TO STAND UP!

I'm going to do something I thought I would never do on my blog. And that is talk politics for a minute. The only reason I am is because I have spent the last two days totally PISSED OFF. (Pardon the crude language...I'm sure my mom will reprimand me for any of you who are offended.)

I am totally disgusted, but not surprised, by the unprecedented attack that has been going on against Sarah Palin. It sickens me to read the lies, the half truths, and the outright vicious things that are being said about this lady. I don't know Sarah Palin but then neither does the media who has decided to crucify her in the press. Maybe she isn't the best person on the planet to become the next Vice President...but who are they to tell us what we should and MUST believe, and then dress it up like its NEWS.
They've used the argument that she isn't qualified...hmmm and Obama is? She has more practical experience than he does...and she is only running for VICE President. And aren't they the ones who, for the last 6 months, have been saying it's time for a CHANGE...that the old Washington politics and "good ole boys club" is a thing of the past and must be relegated there? Well what better "change" could we find than having a regular, everyday mom and wife get the chance to be a leader. I'll take her practical experience of being a mom, city councilman, Mayor, and Governor any day. Heck I figure if you can be a mom to 5 kids and work full time...you SHOULD rule the world!

They have said she can't possibly be a good person if she's willing to abandon her children just for the sake of a powerful job. This coming from the same women who have been SCREAMING at us for years that women "can-have-it-all" and "do-it-all". The hypocrisy makes my head hurt. What they mean to say is women can do anything as long as they are liberal women and are doing and saying what we tell them to do and say. One popular female TV host actually had the nerve to say that if Sarah had one or two children it would be fine...but with 5 kids she couldn't possibly handle this job. Where does she get off deciding what the cutoff is...who died and made her the determining voice of what is and isn't possible! These are the same women who stay suspiciously silent on the mistreatment of Muslim women...and yet stand up and attack Sarah Palin because she isn't one of "them".

As women...be you liberal or conservative....it is time to stand up and defend this woman against the media horde that is trying to destroy her...just because she is a strong, independent, and successful woman who doesn't follow THEIR agenda! Whether you agree or disagree with her politics....she deserves to be treated with respect. And her children deserve to be left out of this political circus. They are not running for office...they're just kids.

Here is my favorite example of the media bias....how can you not be appalled by this

And then there is this...just one of MANY comments that made my blood boil....

Over at Althouse there was this comment:Blogger Trumpit said…
Why do you admire her for knowingly, willingly bringing a Down’s baby into this world? That’s asking for a life of pain and suffering. Most people aren’t rich like she is and Uncle Sam ends up by picking up the tab for the special care and education a retarded child requires. You’re all into higher taxes and additional burdens and sacrifices that all will bear for her selfish poor choice. She’s a stupid selfish moron for not aborting her child. I only mean that in a kind and loving way. What kind of retarded monster would bring a retard into the world? I, for sure, wouldn’t, and I’m smart, intelligent and moral like she obviously isn’t.11:57 AM

And sadly enough...there were so many comments out there just as bad or worse than this one.....

Alright...I'm done now...and I apologize for venting...but I was to the point that my head was going to explode and I didn't want to have to vacuum again.

BRAVO Nikki!!! I just finished watching the RNC and Sarah Palin shone like a star...I especially liked Rudy Giuliani ranting that a man would NEVER be asked if he would have time for his children and run an office. You really put into words exactly my thoughts and feelings about how the media tries to manipulate us like a bunch of sheep..(no insult intended to sheep...sorry)...I pray the voters of America wake up and come to their senses before it's too late.
I'll crawl down off my soap box now and bid you good night... Bo

Nikki,
Thank you for having the courage to speak the truth. I 100% agree. I could never imagine a parent of a mentally handicapped child regretting their decision to bring it into this world. Every soul is a gift, no matter the challenges. I happen to love Sarah Palin, and yes, she has much more experience than Obama. And she's only in for VP. I believe she is the best person for the job. I wasn't crazy about McCain, but she cemented my support. And yes, I totally agree media has been very biased on reporting. I think if Obama wins, it will be due largely to the fact of media spotlight.

Politics....I could talk all day! And I'm glad your head didn't explode!:)

Thank you!!!!!

I rarely comment on blogs but I am because I appreciate you doing the right thing and pointing out the hypocrisy. There is nothing like speaking the truth!

The 2 covers of the magazine--just ridiculous.

I have a very hard time watching and listening to the liberal media, especially after the speeches. We did watch CNN just to see what they would say and their analysis last night was poor.

The man on CNN who railed against her explanation of her job as mayor vs a community organizer was wrong. Not all community organizers/volunteers are going to feel put down. I am not offended. She was not dissing community organizers/volunteers. She simply exlained the difference in the job descriptions. I have been a volunteer in my community for YEARS and was president of one of the largest chapters of a professional organization for 2 years---while working full time and being a new mom. I oversaw a budget that was much larger than the one BO oversaw. Not all community activists/volunteers/organizers are fit to run the higherst office in our nation. I can't help but agree with Rudy, you have to be more than just "present".

The other day someone mentioned we are going to be an "Obamanation." CRINGE!!! In my own head when I heard that it sounded like abomination. All I could think of was: Obamanation that leads to desolation.

Thank you for standing up for what is good and right and for the TRUTH!

Amen, sister. The media is tragically biased. It makes me crazy.

I couldn't believe the cruel and uninformed comments the poster on the other blog meant. My dear friend has a Down's Syndrome child. When they found out that she had it the doctor explained to them how Down's Syndrome children are so loving and other aspects of it. Her daughter has been such a joy in their lives and many others, why would anyone try to extinguish a life like that before it is born and has a chance? JMHO. Also, we teach our children right and true principals but they choose their own path. Their choices should never affect our careers no matter what we do for a living. I've heard these same kind of ridiculous comments about women from WOMEN who used to support Hillary Clinton so strongly. You've made me wonder, is it bz Hillary just had one child that they feel she's qualified. A mother of five certainly knows how to stretch a budget and spread herself to cover everything. One last thing, I love the fact that when she became governor the first thing she did was sell the previous governor's private jet!!! Now that's trimming the pork out of the budget for Alaska!! I'd love to see her help McCain do that with things in the government as VP!

Another Amen, sister.

Obama was born to an 18 year old mother and I'm not sure his parents were ever married.

I listened (until late last night) to all that Sarah Palin had to say and it was quite a lot and very impressive.

NBC and MSNBC have become the Democratic channel and I'm sick of the whole group of them.

No family is perfect but she is doing what real mothers do. She is providing for her family emotionally, physically, spiritually and with love. What more can we ask of her or ourselves.

EXCELLENT post!!! Thank you, thank you for standing up for Sarah P. and women everywhere!

As a mother and former special education teacher, I am disgusted by that blogger's revolting comments. Is there no low to which they will stoop in their attacks of Mrs. Palin?! What an Obamanation!!! I’m fairly certain that the attacks are getting so bad because they know she absolutely ROCKED THE CASBAH last night!

How incredible would it be if the first female vice president of the United States of America was a REPUBLICAN?! God Bless America! Great job, again! McCain and Palin all the way!!!!!!

joelandbecca said...

Yes, yes, yes, and yes! I seriously am applled as well. You know I am no huge Clinton fan, but I even felt among liberals there was a double standard there in the Primaries. If Obama said something silly, no one did a thing, but everything she said, people drilled her on. She had to explain herself time and time again. I didn't think it was fair. That being said, this has gone to such a far extreme with Sarah that I can not believe what I am watching. I like to watch her speak, but I literally have to just turn off the TV when she is done, because I cannot stand the commentaries and what they start saying. "It was a wiell delivered speech, but it she didn't write it" HELLO! When does anyone write their whole peech in politic, and they never say that with other people!
Regardless, I am so excited. She is such a strong woman and has already done so much for the party. I personally thought the only way McCain could redeem himself was to choose Romney. But, I am glad he didn't. I am proud for what Sarah is doing for women everywhere!
Thanks for your pot. If you can't tell, it has been on my mind all day!

As far as the comment about her child that was so uncalled for!! It makes me furious as I have a friend whos sweet daughter has downs. Any child is a gift. Maybe it's time we have someone who will give these people and others with disabilities a voice.

Great post. It is horrible what the press is doing to Sarah Palin, and Obama talking as if she were still the mayor of a small town and not govenor of Alaska. She has more experience than he does! I had decided some time ago to back Bob Barr for real change in this country, but I hope that the media and Obama/Biden deal with real issues and not if a woman with 5 kids can be vice president. The comment from the blogger regarding her baby was just horrid.

I hate the whole political game. Sadly this is why we are so divided as a nation. I think a lot of people are offended by the way she is being attacked in the media but will turn around and say something derogatory about Obama. No one should make judgments on anyone!!! I don't listen to the news anymore or read the stupid emails I get on politicians, they are all biased and wrong.

So glad that I visited here today. You saved me from writing almost the same things! I thought we had, for the most part, moved beyond sexism in politics. My bad. Guess it's still alive and kickin' and just coming from a (suprisingly) different source. So far, Sarah Palin's speech was the only speech that has sounded worthy of a presidential campaign. I've been disappointed by the fact that the presidential candidates are not good orators. If they're going to represent me and speak for me, I'd like them to do it well! So happy to see that you have given credit where credit is due. Nancy

You know... this whole "petty" political thing makes me soooo sick to my stomach! What ever happened to "respect"??? I respect a difference of opinion! Who gives a rat's ass that Barack's mother had him at the age of 18? Who gives a crap that she may not have been married? What does any of that have to do with the MEDIA attacking Sarah? Moreover, who gives a darn if Sarah has 15 children??? Who cares if her daughter is pregnant? Really!!!!!! What does any of this CRAP have to do with leadership??? The bottom line is... one speech(from Sarah or Obama) does nor mean one or the other is capable of leading... a speech is mere words... just thoughts, theory if you will! Theory is one thing and Practice is another. Once the votes are in... there will be a new President. It will be McCain or Obama... (not Sarah) both NEW to the job! (both inexperienced as President of the US)

All parties, Democrat & Republican, Male and Female, Black and White are being attacked... this is how the Media and the US does it! (Like it or not) The good thing is... we all get to vote!

Go vote and pray that your vote counts!

I am totally for Obama... but guess what, I cant think of a negative thing to say about McCain or Sarah Palin. God Bless them all and may the "most voted for" win.

I'll be up front and say that I am NOT voting for McCain, but I am pretty impressed by this lady. I agree with what you are talking about in that she is being judged so unfairly for having a career while raising 5 children. You're right about the hypocrisy of being told we can do it all and then being criticized for going out and actually doing it!

Incredible that anyone at all would criticize her for giving birth to a Down's Syndrome baby instead of aborting it. My goodness, what has happened where its okay for people to think that eliminating babies with problems is an okay idea? Scary!

The media also needs to lay off of her daughter for being pregnant. This has no bearing on her political career and no bearing on whether or not she is a good mother. Kids will be kids and if they really want to do something, they will. I'm glad that her daughter is taking responsibility for her child, and I hope it all works out for the girl and her boyfriend. I find it ironic though that the same people who criticized Jamie Lynn Spears for being a young, unwed mother who plans to marry the father are the same ones who are now praising Bristol Palin for making the same decision. Something to think about for sure. Both teens have enough on their plates as young parents or impending parents.

Okay, this turned into a book! I'll get off my soapbox now.

Sue: You forgot one very important point. Mr. Obama also said he was going to raise taxes on business and large corporations...now I don't know about you...but anyone who buys gas, groceries, clothing etc...has to do so by purchasing them from businesses and large corporations. Heck maybe you grow all your own food and shear your sheep and weave your own cloth and have your own oil refinery...but for the rest of us...we're going to see increased prices to offset those tax increases he has planned. Or do you think those businesses and corporations are just going to eat the tax increase and give us all a break? He has all these social programs planned...billions of dollars of increased handouts to special interest groups...where is all this money coming from? Is he magic? Because I'm pretty sure that money has to come from somewhere....and it will...it will come from MY POCKET and YOUR POCKET. Maybe you're okay with giving up more of your hard earned money...but I give PLENTY already. I am ready for change...But change doesn't come from empty promises and a man who has no plan...just catchy slogans!

And one other thing....this post wasn't to encourage anyone to vote for McCain/Palin. I only started this debate because Sue brought it up. If you'll actually read the post it was about respecting a person who has earned respect. You don't have to agree with her politics (I think I made that pretty clear) but you do owe her respect. And I would say the exact same thing about Michelle Obama, and the rest of his family and the family of Mr. Biden. Let them argue policy. But attacking a 17 year old girl...or a Downs Syndome baby is simply disgusting. I think even Sue could agree with that!

I think Sue has forgotten we are REAPING economically what Clinton sowed during his 8 years in office. Our country's prosperity in the 1990s did not have much to do with Clinton, it had to do with Reagan and Bush. Bush 43 has not been perfect but he has done well with the mess the Clintons made.

Three Cheers for Donna--I appreciate her point of view although I am not an Obama fan at all.

Oh what a great post !!!

The Dems turned on Hillary now they are going for Sarah. I hope she is as tough as she seems, I just loved her speech.

That US magazine article made me sick, inside they mentioned her hubbys DUI, didn't mention it was 22 years ago. What about when Obama was 22 and did (his words here) a little blow. He is their darling and what ever he does is just aokay, I have never seen such a bias in the media as we have today.

How come nothing was said about Nancy Pelosi having 5 kids and what a nice job she's done huh???

Washington is BROKEN folks and we need some CHANGE. McCain IS going for CHANGE, Obama's VP pick is a blast from the past where is the CHANGE ?

When the economy was doing great during BUSH and the market went sky high...nothing in the press, when the surge in Iraq was working...nothing in the press. Only the negative is reported.

I bought my first house when CARTER was pres. go back and check that little piece of history. 18% interest rates. He was farrrrrrrr left and so is Obama.

I just pray McCain wins, he's got my vote !!!

Thanks Nikki again great post

Heidi said...

I loved this post, and agree with the last comment. Why do I have to pick one party or the other? I am reasonable enough to look at both sides in any election and choose who I think is best for our country, regardless of party. I was raised by Democrat parents (who I love!), but am so thankful that I live in a country where I can choose who I vote for!

Anonymous said...

What we're seeing & reading hereis what "happens" when political dialogue begins. It's an emotionally charged issue, about which many of us feel GREAT PASSION! And while I totally disagree with Sue, I thank God we live in a country where we ARE "free" to speak our minds and challenge & discuss the thought process of others. I also consider it an honor, not a "right". And, in my heart of hearts, the Democrats/Liberals would be quite happy taking that away, thank you very much!

Anonymous said...

Pandora's Box has been opened, and that's fine. But it would behoove Sue to TAKE OFF THE BLINDERS & really picture what incredible HARM CAN & WILL come to this great country of ours when thinking just only of ONE'S SELF & FAMILY, and not thinking of the good of the people as a whole.

nikkicrumpet said...

Just a note to anonymous who thinks I'm doing "too well" and don't deserve another tax cut. I am doing very well thank you. But it wasn't because I got handouts from the Government. It is because I work my BUTT OFF and have for 30 years. I was a single mom with three kids and no child support...and I STILL DIDN'T GET A GOVERNMENT HANDOUT. I just worked that much harder and saved my money. I put 3 kids through college without the help of the GOVERNMENT or a husband. I am now married to a man who works very hard and is dedicated and loyal to the company who employs him. They in turn pay him a great salary. I also work and make a great living. I refuse to be ashamed of the fact that we made it to this level of comfort on our own. In fact...I'm damn proud of how much we've accomplished. And if I choose to fill my home full of "crap" as you put it...then that is my right. Because as you might not know...we currently live in a FREE COUNTRY! And as long as I'm not some blood sucking leech on society then I have a right to spend my money any way I'd like.....AND talk about any subject I'd like to on MY blog. Gee freedom of speech...what a concept! And if you don't like reading political opinion on my blog...then don't log on for heavens sake. Believe it or not...women who blog about their homes and children, still have an opinion about whats happening in this country. And it's a damn good thing WE DO! Seems to me we are the voices of Sanity and decency in this sick world of media bias!

nikkicrumpet said...

Sue: you're right...I shouldn't have blamed you for the debate. And I'm sorry I said that. What I really wanted to point out (and did a crappy job of it) was that you didn't comment on the main point of the post. It wasn't about political parties and who should win...it was about respect! It was about the media bias that is so ridiculous it's laughable. They make outrages comments that are so one sided and then they pretend it's NEWS. The attack on Sarah Palin was beyond disgusting. And I will also say...even though I am NOT a Hillary fan...that I think what they did to her in this election was sickening too. They totally threw her under the bus. She went from being the "golden egg" to a "goose egg" in a heartbeat. I can't imagine how cheated she must feel. What the media and her own party did to her was outrageous. If I was a democrat I'd be royally ticked off about that! Ok...I'll shut up now. Whew I need some chocolate!

Thanks for your honesty and putting voice to our thoughts!

THANK YOU. You spoke VERY WELL for many, Nikki! Those of us who have WORKED HARD, & SACRIFICED MUCH, are DESERVING of any & all "rewards" we are enjoying now! I certainly feel no need to "defend" a wonderful way of life/lifestyle after all the years it took to get here, and, NEVER with even one handout, not even from our families! We did it ourselves, all on our own, and I'm grateful you took the time to explain to Mr/Ms. Anonymous your feelings. Eloquently stated, dear lady! Thank you!

Way to go Nikki! I totally agree with you. I think because she is a womwn she is held to a higher level of scutiny and I am sick of it. I agree if she is a women with five kids running a household she can do just about anything. They did the same thing to Hillary. The media and her own party turned against her. I watched Sarah Palin give her speech and I think she did an outstanding job.

OK ladies, the mother and former special education teacher here again with a couple more comments:

First of all, to Sue, I have a hard time believing that you are truly a Christian. As someone who recently accepted Christ into my heart and is working on my personal relationship with my personal Savior, Jesus Christ, I know that abortion is THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT issue to Christians. I know that there is no way I could ever vote for a candidate who is not pro-life. Additionally, Barack Obama has clearly stated that he does not know when human life begins--that issue is "above his paygrade". He does not oppose partial-birth abortion. How could someone who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as is the definition of a Christian, vote for someone who does not oppose partial-birth abortion?

Furthermore, Nikki-you are absolutely entitled to EVERYTHING you have. I'm glad you do not feel guilty about the beautiful "crap for your home". My husband and I work extremely hard at our Dave Ramsey budget so we can afford to SAVE and pay cash for all the beautiful "crap" in our home. People on welfare should read up on Dave Ramsey so they can work hard at EARNING and saving so they, too, can afford to buy "crap" for their homes and homes for their "crap". I, personally, do not enjoy paying for "crap" in other peoples' homes. I have a feeling, though, if Sue gets her way, I will be paying for a lot of "crap" in other peoples' homes.

Furthermore, Sue, you forget that FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency, in case you've never heard of this organization before now...as it sounds like may be the case) was in charge of the relief efforts of Hurricane Katrina, NOT George W. Bush. You sound about as ridiculous as rapper Kanye West saying "George W. Bush doesn't care about black people". Come on! I'm sure it was George W. Bush's job to collect relief items, pack them in boxes, and fly them himself to New Orleans. I'm sure if Katrina happened while Bill Clinton was in office, things would have gone much more smoothly. I mean, it's not like Bill had anything else important going on in the oval office (MONICA LEWINSKY)!!!!!

Sue: I'm more than happy to have you come back and voice your opinion anytime you want. But since this is such a passionate topic...people are going to respond passionately. Which is ok with me too. I like hearing both sides of this issure. But I'm not sure I get your whole George Bush argument....if he is only pretending to care..why bother.....the outcome of this election doesn't affect him in the slightest. And lets not put George Bush's sins onto McCain/Palin. They are George Bush's sins or mistakes. I don't blame Obama for the things that Bill Clinton did....because that simply wouldn't be fair. So if you'd like to talk about McCain's record that's a good place to start. Why do democrats always evoke the name of George Bush into every single argument? Heck nobody is blaming Hillary for Bills mistakes and she stayed married to him! How can you blame McCain for Bush when they don't even like each other!!!

Anonymous said...

OK, first off, I want to apologize for being so harsh...it just makes me soooooooo upset when people attack Bush for Katrina and when liberals get on their kicks about welfare. But, I admit that I was not acting like a Christian when I fired off that retort. I do believe and stand by everything I said before, but I do feel I said it a little harshly.

I do want to kindly ask you about your statement about "liberal idiots", as you say. Republicans are, by definition, "conservative" and democrats "liberal". You say that you don't believe in abortion, and that you are not a "liberal idiot" so I really am curious why, as a Christian (and again, I'm sorry for attacking your faith--that was uncalled for on my part), you would vote for the most liberal (or "liberal idiot" as you stated) senator in the U.S. to become president? I just firmly believe that abortion is THE issue for Christians. Listen to any legitimate Christian pastor, priest, radio-show host, etc. and they will confirm that for you.

Again, I apologize for being so harsh. I didn't mean to come off that bitchy...so sorry!

Enough is enough. Time to acknowledge that BOTH sides feel extremely passionate and very strongly. I must say and admit, tho, that it scares the hell out of me that ANYONE would watch or listen to ANYTHING by Michael Moore, let alone lend credence to ANYTHING coming from that disgusting, foul mouth and evil, misinformed mind of his. There. I said it. Furthermore, I too believe that Satan IS involved here, but he's NOT where Sue thinks he is. Gum-chewing Obama w/ his flagrant arrogance & lack of true devotion to our America's well-being, his attachments to "Rev." (& I question that title!) Wright, Ayers and others proves too much about him, his true beliefs and his elitist mentality, which is now seeming to become an actual cult. Now THAT is what's scary!

I didn't read ALL of what was said here, but I first wanted to say an Amen to Nikki for posting this. I am of the silent majority and do not talk politics normally, BUT...

My grandfather worked his ass off for his money and do you know what they did... they taxed him while making it, taxed him while giving it to his family members and taxed him when he died AND NOW they are still taxng it to this day after his death because all of his family members were priveledged to have been related to a man that worked his ass off to give his family the life that he thought they deserved. My grandfather's money was taxed to give people money that sit and do nothing and complain about the rich. My grandfather came from NOTHING and made his own money. Why should he have to pay for those that won't even in death. I am sooooo sick of the BS I just can't take it anymore.

As far as Palin... I personally didn't think there was a woman in politics that I could count on, but SHE changed my mind. As far as McCain... Country First!

I'm sorry for venting Nikki.

Rue--excellent points. Makes me just sick about the situation with your grandfather.

BTW, I noticed from your picture that you are a proud Army wife. I have two sisters in the military--the other reason I get so fired up about politics. My oldest sister just retired after 21+ years in the Air Force.

God bless you, your husband, and your family for all the sacrifices you continually make on behalf of our great nation. It makes me positively nauseous to see how the view of our military has gone from ultra-proud just after 9-11 to where we are now. I hope and pray that Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan, Pelosi, Obama, the media, adn the Hollywood elite don't turn this nation against our troops even more than they already have over the past couple years.

God bless you and your family and thank your husband from this gal who couldn't be prouder and more thankful of our brave men and women in the service.

And, one more thing...to the dems out there who have said that at least they have refrained from saying negative things about McCain...what negative things could you possibly say about the man?! Granted, I know he's no saint...none of us are, but he's an absolute hero, and it's unbelievable to me that the Obama camp is attempting to demonize him.

Sue: First off he doesn't "say" he is a war hero...HE IS A WAR HERO! There is a big difference and just by you saying that, it proves you are as bias as the media. The man had a chance to leave that hell hole 4 years early, because the enemy found out who is father was...but instead of ending his suffering he stood by his men and the unspoken rule of "first one in first one out" ...that IS AN AMAZING SACRIFICE for the love of his men. Don't demean it please! Secondly.. He doesn't own those 7 houses...his wife does. She is a very wealthy woman..it was HER money not his. Should he apologize for marrying a wealthy woman? Did John Kerry apologize for marrying into money? Did YOU rail on him the same way????? Or is that different because he is representing your side? And just so you know...John McCains VERY wealthy wife has spent years (even before he was a politician) going to third world countries on medical missions. She has given not just money...but countless hours of hard work trying to help the poor and sick people around the world. She even adopted a sick baby from Bangladesh to save it from dying.

Lastly: Demeaning Sarah Palin by reducing her to a "smart mouth woman" as you put it...just goes to prove my point. You would never refer to Hillary that way...why do you continue to not give credit where it's due. I have no problem with you having opposing views..in fact I love living in a country where that is not only possible but is a protected right. But you need to argue your point with FACTS...at least it would give you more credibility. Sarah Palin is not a "smart mouth woman" She is a SMART WOMAN who knows how to speak her mind. She went from the PTA to Vice President nominee all while raising a family, fighting corruption in her own party...and she did it with class. Give her credit...I know it will hurt..but it will make you feel better!

You stated the facts far better than most of us could, Nikki. It's a shame, though, that SOME listen to the news for all of about 2 minutes, then assume "that's all there is". They cannot see the forest thru the trees. I'm glad you feel the way you do. You get it!

Amen, amen, AMEN, Nikki!

Furthermore, what makes you think Barack Obama supports our troops? I used to live and work in schools outside an army base, and still have many contacts from that area. I have heard time and again that Obama's little "photo op" in Iraq was exactly that...just a publicity stunt. He did not thank a single troop for their selfless, brave, and sacrificial service...for putting our COUNTRY FIRST.

Furthermore, one of my sisters is currently in a nine-week military intelligence class for officers...they have had many lengthy conversations about politics and EVERYONE (with the exception of one who claims he is apolitical and doesn't vote ever) in this class is for McCain. This class is led by colonels, and is comprised of officers who are on track to become the next colonels and generals in our amazing military. Who is more qualified to give their assessment of what the presidential candidates will do for the military and veterans...you or our future and current colonels and generals, who are also veterans of foreign wars?

Sue: lets get some FACTS straight. Your comment about Military people voting in droves for Obama. NOT TRUE. I don't know where you get your info...but the latest polls by Gallup and several others show 56% of military people in the MCCain camp as opposed to 34% for Obama. I don't see "droves" there. And as far as McCains record on helping the military. You presented just a tiny piece of the info...leaving everything else out. Hmmmm I wonder where you learned that from. Perhaps it comes from listening to Michael Moore and the other Liberal talking heads. Here is the REAL facts. McCain has worked to increase pay scales for servicemen during both the Persian Gulf war & The current war on terror. He has worked to increase the enlistment & re-enlistment bonuses for reservists & guardsmen. he sponsored bills to give tax relief to deployed service members. He voted repeatedly to ensure that Veteran Affairs Health Care programs receive funding increases & higher pay for VA doctors. He has been the leading advocate in the senate for disabled vets throughout his entire career. He has fought for 15 years, introducing numerous bills to ensure Vets with service related disabilities receive the retirement benefits they deserve. He has sponsored legislation to create National Sites to honor medal of Honor recepients...the list goes on and on. So instead of JUST TALKING about helping Vets like your man Obama...He has been DOING something. Yes he has voted no on some bills...because he felt that they had parts that were not acceptable....but his overall record speaks for itself. What bills or legislation has Obama done for our military? Heck he slammed Hillary for her vote on the Kyl/liberman bill on Iraq...yet he didn't even bother to show up for the vote!!!!!

This is my first post to this heated debate, I watched as the debate spiralled from a clarion call to womanhood and defending a mom's right to work, to politics.

I was overjoyed that Nikki could create a post to defend working moms against those who say we want it all, to being disgusted, yes disgusted as the debate sank into pure politics, name calling and religion, here in blogland we are 99% women, why couldnt we take the post for what it was and stay to the point! That we are disgusted with the treatment of a fellow woman!!

Nikki you failed, you should have steered this post better, you should have stayed on course and made sure everyone else did!! At the first hint that it was becoming political, you should have discouraged it.

I would hate to see this affect relations in blogland but alas it is inevitable. Pleas prove me wrong!!

I have a blog and I choose to remain anonymous, becase when I first read this post I knew it was dangerous territory.

No one is going to change how they vote because of this post, so why not keep it to yourself? Come on ladies!! Stay to the point and avoid getting political!!

Nikki: I came here looking for the "buy more crap" comment that you talked about on today's blog. Wow I was shocked to see you had over 120 comments so I read through them all. I just have one thing to say......Obama lost my vote when I read that Obama refuses to put his hand over his heart to recite the pledge of allegiance bz he thinks it is a demonstration of nationalism and not patriotism. If a man wants to hold the highest office my country has to offer he better darn well be willing to pledge his allegiance to the symbol of our freedom! Okay, okay, two things....my adopted boy just returned this summer from his second tour in Iraq. We have to remember that George Bush had a war thrust upon him when our country was attacked and we now had to finance this war and beef up our defenses. No wonder our deficit had to increase. All the while we keep giving money to other countries to give them aid through their catastrophes. Did any of those countries stand up to help us? I believe since McCain has been in a war zone and held captive by the enemy that he will do everything in his power to protect our fighting men and to ensure that they have the proper equipment, supplies, and fighting power to carry on the fight. I pray it can end soon but we have to make sure the fight is really over first. I pray every day to my Heavenly Father for the protection of our country and fighting forces.

Sue, I really am not going to fight with you but I just want to remind you that it was our country who had CIVILIANS attacked on their soil. Men and women who just were going to work to provide for their families who were so brutally murdered by cowards using airplanes as weapons. The terrorists did not even take the route of hitting a military target where we could have defended ourselves. Their are mistakes made in all presidencies but I honestly believe that George Bush did the very best job he could with what was thrust upon him and the intelligence data he had to date. I won't judge the man bz I have not walked in his shoes and do not know all the details of what went on. That said, you didn't dispute or even address the main point of my comment, Obama will not put his hand over his heart and pledge allegiance to our flag. Do you really want someone who can't do that as the leader of the free world. My heart weeps for you and others who cannot see this. Nikki, I won't be back to this particular post. Thank you for opening a discussion on this, however unintentioned it was, but there are no words for someone who cannot and will not see or hear the truth when it is placed before them. Sue,

I think we can all agree that the website snopes is an accurate, unbiased website. Check out this link to the snopes article about Obama refusing to put his hand on his heart during our great country's National Anthem. There is a video right on this link that shows exactly what happened.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp

As for the weapons of mass destruction, intelligence, however faulty, suggested that Saddam had WMD. Check out this link listing statements from top democrats, including Bill Clinton toward the end of his presidency, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, etc. about the Iraq war and WMD.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/wmdquotes.asp

Not exactly "Bush's War", even though that is what you have been spoon-fed.

Finally, as for the Republicans who are for Obama, there are several websites of Democrats for McCain...oh the audacity! Here are just a few that you may want to check out:

Go Nikki, Go Nikki, Go Nikki!!!
I couldn't agree more.

I'm amazed at the ugliness out there, like that post about DS children.

Thank goodness our votes will trump theirs!!!!!

so typical of the republicans, they want this wall street bailout to include millions of dollars for the crooked ceo's and no help for average homeowners to be able to keep their homes, pity, you all must be in the top 10 percent thats why you are for these a holes

AWWWWW the RACE CARD! I wondered how long it would take before someone called me a Racist. And there it is. It's funny how Liberals love to throw that around. It's so much easier than coming up with a REAL argument and finding REAL ways to defend their opinion. I'm just surprised it took so long before it reared it's ugly head!

dang, what makes a republican vote for a republican even tho their heart tells them he's the wrong choice? Haven't you all learned from the last election? even your husband has reservations nikki! mccain just gets worse and worse every day... I don't think God will frown upon you if you vote for obama.. it'll be ok

Anonymous....what a ridiculous comment. C'mon you have to be kidding right??? Please tell me that was a joke! I'm not worried about God frowning upon me. What a totally bizarre thing to say!!! And neither my husband or I agree with all of McCain's policies...of course we have reservations...he is NOT the PERFECT candidate. But if we waited for a perfect candidate who we agreed with on EVERY policy...then we would NEVER vote!! However we did choose a candidate who comes closer than anyone else to believing what we believe...and it sure as heck isn't O'bama. A man who fought to beat down legislation that would protect a baby who was born ALIVE after a botched abortion...and allow the doctors to put it in a sink until it dies...is DEFINITELY not the man to run this country. And that is only one of MANY of his believes that sicken me. Yes...SICKEN me..not just disagree with...but make me shudder! I don't believe all of what McCain believes...but at least I'm not HORRIFIED by any of his policies!!! And I want a candidate who actually loves the country that he wants to run. I don't care if he's Republican or Democrat...he at least ought to have character. And there is only one man in this race who does have character.

why don't you stop believing all this crap that portrays Barack Obama as a monster! He is a pro-choice Senator, that doesn't mean he believes in putting babies in a sink to die! Have you ever read his beliefs, his own words, not the words of FOX AND FRIENDS!!! This is what he writes for his Mothers view.. organized religion too often dressed up closed-mindedness in the garb of piety, cruelty and oppression in the cloak of righteousness. You nikki are such a self righteous B..

did you see Sarah Palin interviewed by Katie Couric? OH MY.. I know she's not the smartest girl on the block but what did McCains people do to her??? Give her a stupid pill?? I'm speechless...

nikkicrumpet said...

Hey anonymous....I didn't hear it on Fox and Friends. Unlike you I actually do my Homework and Research. If you pulled your head out long enough to actually READ something you would see that it is true. He was the ONLY Senator that stood up and fought to make it legal for a botched abortion that resulted in the infant being born alive to be later allowed to die!! DO THE RESEARCH Heck it's available, It isn't from ANY news source...it is a Public Record from the SENATE! I guess it's actually you who only listens to talking points.

And Sue....You've threatened to not come back. Please be a lady of your word.
