~~4 Chicks go traveling~~

The journey begins in Bradley airport in Connecticut

As you can see, I was lucky to even find my family in this crowded, bustling place. To be fair it was late at night...and my family is coming from Arizona, Utah and Alaska...I guess people coming from normal places arrived earlier in the day.

Because we are PARTY GALS we went to bed as soon as we got back home. Hey I'm old and I tire easily.

The next day we threw some overnighters in the car and we headed to Niagra Falls! Along the journey we had to stop in Palmyra, New York. For the rest of the world...there is nothing in Palmyra...but for people of our faith it's a pretty cool place. We stopped at the Palmyra temple, visited the Joseph Smith house and got to spend some time in the sacred grove.

Thats my sis-in-law Joy, my mom, and my sis-in-law Jody. And where am I? Hiding behind the camera of course...Heck somebody has to take the pictures! Notice that gorgeous blue sky....we had the BEST weather the whole time!

We made it to Niagra Falls, the Canadian side, and checked into the Embassy Suites Hotel...it advertised as the closest to the Horse shoe falls. And they weren't lying! I know this is gonna be hard to believe...but this picture was taken by Jody through our hotel window. She is a semi-pro photographer...and any really awesome shots you see in these vacations posts are gonna be by her. We didn't think this would work through the glass but it turned out gorgeous!

After checking out the view we walked down to the falls. Now I try really hard not to walk anywhere....really I would be grateful if God had given me wheels on my feet. Because walking and me are not good friends. Look how far away the falls are from here! And for my old out of shape body...this was a WALK...and there were HILLS people! And where was I in this photo...I was across the street in the park trying to not pass out from exhaustion. I tried to steal a walker from this old dude, but his wife hit me with her purse.
I love it when my dear mom looks happy!

Jody kept climbing up on the wall to get the good shots....it's a LOOOONG way down and I was trying to figure out how I was gonna explain a missing wife to my brother! Ummmm bro...I lost your wife...I think she went fishing...Ya might want to try calling Canada.........

After we got done gawking at the pretty water spillage.....I tried to hire a couple of big burly guys to drag my sorry butt up the Mount-Everest-type hill...but I had to make it all the way on my own. Lets just say no "land speed records" were set that day. Tomorrow we were heading to the Butterfly Conservatory....didn't I tell you we were party gals!!!!!

That looks like fun! And it is beautiful! I'm a sucker for water falls and I guess this would be one of the biggest! Great pics!

You gals are totally out of control! I hoped you saved some energy for the rest of your trip :)

Sorry about the old lady and the purse thing. You should have had your SIL distract her by taking her picture - then you could have grabbed the walker without being noticed!!! Bahahaha!

HI Nikki! This brought back sooo many memories! That's where I honeymooned 28 years ago and sat in that same spot your fam was at!lol I remember a conservatory but don't remember butterflies! Yess the walking was hard even back then! Did you go up in that tower thing? My husband went out at the top at night and I freaked out cuz I couldn't see him in the dark and it was windy and I thought I was a widow after a week of marriage! Then I was acting suspicious/nervous at customs and couldn't keep my mouth shut!lol Thanks for the memories! - Sincerely Jeannette

Nikki, your description of your trip is so funny and the pictures are just beautiful. Especially from the hotel window with the rainbow. We were at the falls a few years ago and they are stunning. Your mom smiling is so cute.

Have a great trip!! I have been there one time, in 1976. I managed to get a picture with a rainbow in it that time. Now be good and be careful who you talk to. You just never know. Looking forward to more awesome pictures.

Glad you had such a great time. I love Niagara Falls as well...it's just such a happy place to visit.

Did you visit the flower clock? The last time we went, I built up the clock so much to everyone we were with and they were so annoyed at me when they finally saw it.

Looks like you party gals are having a great time. :o) I love the photos... I went to Niagra and I don't think I took a single photo! What is wrong with me?? (don't answer that)

I have never been to Niagra Falls. Your photos are wonderful and really capture the magnificence of them beautifully. Thanks for the hotel reference too. If ever I make it across to the other side of my spectacular country (I'm biased), I will definitely book a room there.

Whenever I see waterfalls, of any size, I'm always amazed at the endless supply of water. Where is it all coming from?!?

I admire your determination to get help from men of various ages along the way. Next time, try gasping and clutching at your heart. That might work. ;o)

Looking forward to the next installment.

Hi Nikki, or should I say Sheriff Larue. This truly brought back memories for me too. I saw the falls when I was 19, I was living in Buffalo New York, which you know is only a skip and a hop to the falls. I still remember the sprays of water hitting me in the face. It was a very memorable trip. I'm glad you ladies enjoyed it and the view from the hotel was spectacular. We just drove up, viewed the falls and drove back. I lived in Buffalo with my first husband. We lived there about two years and I loved loved loved it there, but we ended up coming back home. But that's a story to be buried.LOL!!!!!!!Deb

I would have loved to have been able to take a terrific trip like that with my mom (she passed away almost 5 yrs. ago)---your mom's huge smile tells us how much fun she is having on the girls trip! I can't imagine having an amazing view like that from a motel window--wonderful. I think those hills look pretty darned tough to manage--BUT I can't believe you stooped so low as to try to swipe some poor soul's walker!!! Next time you'll know to pack one of your own! ;-) Wonderful photos---I've never seen Niagra Falls. It truly is a beautiful spot!!
