**HEAVEN SENT**

I wasn't going to do a post on this....I figured I'd already done some mooshie posts lately and everyone would think I was going soft....and it seemed kind of silly because I knew Steve would never see it. But then I realized that if I can blog about something as trivial as dog spa day, or refinishing a bench....well then I ought to take the time to blog about the most important things in life. So bear with me........

We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary the other day. It probably doesn't sound like much to you ladies who have been married for decades...but for me it's pretty amazing. See I've got a pretty miserable track record when it comes to "living happily ever after" I won't go into the details...but lets just say I'm not the chick you'd want picking out your next "husband to be". I finally came to the realization that I had the love sense of an amoeba...and decided to remain single forever. Let's face it I didn't have the luxury of involving myself with another person, when it was my kids that would suffer the consequences of the next disaster

.... fast forward 10 years or so. And I meet Steve. Now how a guy who lives in Massachusetts and who has never been to Utah....and a girl who lives in Utah who has never been to Massachusetts....find each other is a mystery ... or what I like to think of as fate. I think God was up there shaking his head over the mess I'd made of things....and decided to cut me a break. And I thank him every day that he did. After 4 years of long distance dating...and Steve patiently waiting for my last child to start college....he lured me across the country and convinced me that he would make me the happiest lady in the world if I only married him.

Boy was he ever right! This is a man who loves me even with the additional wrinkles and pounds. This man had me make a list of the 10 things I'd always wanted to do or see...and then moved heaven and earth to try to accomplish them.

This man has made me smile and laugh out loud every single day we've been together. He has NEVER raised his voice at me...and is rarely ever frustrated at my stupid mistakes and dopey ideas. He buys me flowers and chocolates...just because.
These are from 2 days ago...when he came home from Florida...Schakolad---my FAVORITE..and look only a few are gone...I'm being a good girl....for now.....

He tells me he loves me every day...not once or twice...but practically every time he catches my eye. He is a marvel...and I wonder why he loves me so much...and then I just cross my fingers and pray he never stops. I am blessed beyond all measure.

I LOVE YOU STEVE!

What a beautiful tribute Nikki! Yes, you are lucky to have Steve, but always remember that he is lucky to have you as well :) Don't worry about getting all sappy on us. Personally, I enjoy sappy.

May I have a piece of that chocolate? It will go nicely with that glass of wine I will have when I get home from work today!

Nik, I'm about to have a meltdown. I cried happy tears for you. I admire how well you don't hang on to the past, I know, one shouldn't do that, but sometimes it is hard to forget about stupid things we do in our life. Now, does Steve have a brother? :)
