* A HAPPY ENDING *

I think I broke a land speed record coming home tonight. I was so excited to see if they were able to finish our patio. It was raining pretty hard today so I was worried that they wouldn't have even shown up. And now .... I'm really sorry I called them "Girlie Men" I take it back guys...you are Big Glorious Beef Cakes of Brick Laying love!

I'm gonna have some extra landscaping to do...they were nice enough to level this out with some extra dirt, seeded it, and covered it with straw. But there are some holes now that will need some planting come spring. But over all we are really pleased. I just wish it hadn't been raining so I could sit out and enjoy it for awhile.

I finally finished the last of my preparations for one of the guest bedrooms. It is now officially ready to be occupied by my wonderful mom. I got the yellow cabinet painted and properly distressed and I added a new lamp. I'm pretty okay with how everything looks. I'd like to do some more tweaking but this is as good as it's gonna get for now. (click on the picture and check out that lamp) got it at Home Goods and it's really cute!

One of these days I'll tone down that "too yellow" paint...but dang I REALLY hate painting! I keep hoping that as I get older and my eye sight fails...I won't notice the BLARING yellow!

If you're wondering what the large blob under the quilt in the corner is.....It's the putrid crunchy chair from Hell. Yes I said "crunchy" the fabric is so old that it makes a crunchy sound when you sit on it. It belonged to my hubby from his bachelor days. It's actually the only thing left from that prehistoric period...well except for his 20 year old alarm clock. One day I'm gonna find the perfect chair for that spot...until then ...this monstrosity remains shrouded.

Finally I'd like to thank Jeanne from Backyard Neighbor for giving me this award. I've received it before...but I'll be happy to take it again! Thanks Jeanne. I really enjoy your blog and love having you come over to visit. Everyone go over to her place and say "hi" !

And many thanks to Carol from Charli and me for this awesome award! Carol has an adorable dog named...what else...Charli. Ya gotta go to her blog and take a look at that yummy little furball.

This award is for dog lovers. And I'd like to pass it on to some of my dog loving friends. Kyley at "Crazy Kyley" ........ Sheila at "Note Songs"......Tracey at "I am Me"....and Rhonda at "Scooter Blu's Whimsy" Go meet their adorable and loveable furry friends!

Nikki, I can only say wow! And that is for everything. Your patio is gorgeous. A great idea for the space you have.

Your guest bedroom is just beautiful. Great job of decorating Nikki. Is that a photo on the table of your mom and dad? The lamp is very attractive as well. Good choice for that room. I have a pretty chandelier in my bedroom. I love the touch of elegance.

Hugs, Jeanne

Wow! Look at all of the beautiful things you've got goin' on at your house...a lovely patio, a gorgeous guest room. You need an old crunchy chair to balance out all that beauty. ;~)

Hey, have you thought about just ragging a white wash on top of the bright yellow paint to tone it down? It would be easier than painting.

I love your blog, it makes me want to tear my house apart and start over.Love the cheerful yellow too.

Oh wow, the patio looks FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They got that done really quickly. Well, after you waited all those weeks for them to show up. But at least they did a great job!
Your mom's room looks wonderful. Is she coming for a visit, or to live with you? Yep, that lamp is too beautiful!
My hubby wants a Wheaton when we get a dog, but I'm afraid of the grooming upkeep. I'm leaning toward a Golden Doodle? What do you think?

Oh, I so want that patio for my back yard! I love the brick work and how you did it in curved lines instead of a square block. Is that a gazebo to the right of it or is it a gazebo with a hot tub? Just curious. I love your mom's room too and the quilt is lovely. Did you make the quilt? I just got my new flyer on quilting classes at my favorite sewing store and I am soooooo in trouble! They are teaching some pretty awesome things this time. I want to sign up for way too many classes! Thanks for stopping by and your nice comments about Savannah's tiger picture. I know, I know, I'm too prideful! Someday she'll have a little cousin and she won't get this much attention! At least I'm learning to shorten my blogs, hmmmmm, maybe I better work on shortening my comments!! LOL! Have a great weekend.

Your patio is fabulous Nikki! One of these days, I hope to have a gazebo. I love yours. Have you seen Mary's at Across the Pond? She has an amazing blog. Her gardens are wonderful. She too has a gazebo, I've admired.

I came by here yesterday to see if I could find a picture of your cabinet tops. I never did find one and had to leave when my daughter and her husband came by. I'd love to see your cabinet top photos. I found one photo with just a glimpse of the cabinet. Gorgeous by the way.

OK, I'm perched on the edge of my chair crossing my legs, because if I don't I just might have a wet mess to address beneath my chair. That post, just before this one, should be nominated for some kind of Award-- it was priceless. OMG--you just totally had me shouting "stop it, stop it"!! (I really needed to just step away from the computer, do my business, then return like any normal woman would do--but NOOOOO--I had to keep on reading!)
That one goes into my special category in My Favorites of Best Posts! Oh, that was grand! Thank you for your humor---it brings so much laughter to such a funky world! Dana

PS--wouldn't you like a couple of denture tea light holders to put in your guest room--I'll bet your mom would enjoy them!!! :-)

PPS-OMG, waiting for your vision to fade so the yellow doesn't look so bright! Gads--I gotta run NOW!!

Just got your additional comment---NO, I say, NO--the girlie landscapers, now that's the best one EVER!!! dana

Hello Nikki dear,

Wonderful patio!! I am trying to do my own! And buring rocks... well let me tell you that there has to be a better way... I like your back hoe!! (Want to send it this way?? They won't miss it will they?? lol) I am digging the holes with a shovel... and placing the rocks myself!!! Talk about back BREAKING!!

I think I also used the same color of yellow in our bedroom!! I love the sunshine... but that yellow DH said we didn't need the sunshine... all we needed was SUNGLASSES!! I am now in the process of painting it a chamoille color...(aka LIGHT YELLOW... almost beige... blak. but pleases DH.)

Love your blog!! See you soon.

Hope your having a wonderful day!!

I am thinking i might be using that color on the kid bathroom.
